This brief required us to double the size of the kitchen area to make space for a new fitted kitchen. The client also wanted a hardwood conservatory to make the most of a beautiful view over their garden.
We chose to finish the wood in a clear mahogany stain to complement the existing structure. The roof glazing incorporated solar controlled glass to manage the build-up of heat during the summer months.
To create the extra space we removed two of the external load bearing walls on the ground floor kitchen area. The proposed conservatory would eventually span six metres in each direction and special L shaped RSJ's, plus a supporting structural post, were installed to support the external house walls. This was quite a task - any error would have caused major structural damage. Thanks to our vast experience in projects of this nature everything was completed successfully.
The whole project was supervised by building control and everything went according to plan. The entire aspect of the house has significantly changed for the better and our client is thrilled with the final outcome.
